Microsoft Exchange Upgrade
As messaging continues to grow in volume and business importance, companies have demanded continued improvements in messaging system performance and availability, client / server communications, and server consolidation strategies.

Microsoft's release of Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 provided customers with a more efficient and user-friendly interface. Some of the enhancements of Exchange 2007 have been delineated below:
- Improved Mobile Device support, including Fast Search, improved Calendaring features, and the ability to perform user-initiated remote wipes of Windows Mobile devices via the Outlook Web Access interface. (Note that Outlook Mobile Access, or OMA, will no longer be available in Exchange 2007. OMA offered mailbox access to mobile devices via a stripped-down text-only web interface.)
- Improved performance, not only due to new hardware, but also due to improvements in the way in which the Information Store service handles I/O to the Store files, in addition to performance and scaling benefits offered by the 64-bit architecture.
- An enhanced Outlook Web Access (OWA) experience, including a new Scheduling Assistant, server-side search, improved Global Address List access, and access to RSS feeds and SharePoint documents.
- The Resource Booking Attendant (a built-in replacement for the Auto-Accept Agent) allows for automated management of resource mailboxes.
- Schedulable "Out of Office" messages can be set to begin and end at particular dates and times. Also, different Out of Office messages can be sent to external and internal recipients.
Microsoft offers a minimum of 10 years support (five years of mainstream support plus five years of extended support) for Exchange 2000 and 2003.
Mainstream support for Exchange 2000 originally ended on December 31, 2005 but has been adjusted to end January 10, 2006. Extended support for Exchange 2000 began January 1, 2006, and runs through January 1, 2011. Mainstream support for Exchange 2003 ended on April 14, 2009. Extended support for Exchange 2003 began April 14, 2009, and runs through April 8, 2014.
